What you went through as a kid is awful. I think you should be proud of yourself for growing up to be an obviously decent, generous, and caring person despite these hardships.

A wonderfully written piece again. I’m interested to know, what could your dad or elder sibling have said which would have had any effect or changed your mind before surgery? Other accounts I’ve read on the same subject have said that realistically, no words from people who cared the most would have made any difference, as the grip of ideology was so tight.
Being on the spectrum is extremely isolating. I'm so glad that I grew up in the '80s - '90s. I didn't hit puberty until later (heck, had to had my baby teeth forcibly removed because they wouldn't come out,) didn't fit in, felt like a weirdo (and maybe I was), but I wasn't pressured to transition. I can't imagine what it would be like to have society screaming at you, "You dress like a boy (in my case), you must be trans!" Go easy on yourself. Do what you can, as you can do it.
