Thank you for sharing. When you write I see my son in the future. I hope he takes your advice and learns to love himself just the way he is.

Writing this is a start. You will need to carry on looking for support yourself, though, because this will all be about feeling the best you can and learning to be as positive as possible. Have a look at local men’s support groups to see if one might be worth investigating. I grew up as a very sporty young boy but hated the macho side of what it meant to ‘be a man’ (still do) so there are straight guys out there as well who, if not ‘feminine’, are not classically masculine either (although I have most of the traits of the typical male - I don’t listen, I am always right, I love sport, I have a beard etc) it is just a question of finding them!!! Always keep hope

I'm glad you are sharing your story. You are a talented writer and do excellent work addressing such a painful and complicated subject. What's missing from the lives of so many troubled men in our country today? Unconditional love and support from their mother and father throughout their lives. So many women are unable to be devoted to their children because they don't have the support (financial and otherwise) of the fathers of their children. When children are raised by peers and the television, they deal with lifelong psychological consequences. I hope you have a strong network of family and friends to help you as you deal with your medical issues post-surgery. Doctors who mutilate the non-diseased organs of their patients should lose their medical licenses. Why not try to actually help someone suffering with gender dysphoria instead of performing life altering surgeries? I am so sorry that you were abused in this way.
